Happy Labor Day everyone! I hope everyone is having a nice day. I absolutely love Labor Day. Why? I don't have any school!! It is definitely a nice break from the first week of college. Stressful! It wasn't too bad, but it is definitely a lot different, so I am just going to have to get used to it. I don't have any super exciting plans, but it is definitely a nice day to just relax and catch up and get ahead with some work. It really is nice just to relax after a week that was just go go go. I am so happy to be where I am, but life is so different and it will never go back to the way it was, which is kinda sad. New adventures lie ahead and I cannot wait to see what life has in store, but until then, I have to study, go to class, and do homework. :( This week, I have learned so much about prioritizing and organizing so here are some tips that will help college life (or even high school life) a little less stressful.

1. Have a planner

I have two actually. One is for my due dates and one is for the assignments and things I have to do each day. It is so helpful. Because I have different classes each day, I cant write what I need to do for another class in just one planner, so having two is actually really great. It helps me stay on track and really know when things are due and when I need to do things.

2. Don't study in your dorm (or if you are in high school, study in your room)

There are so many distractions in your dorm room, from your roommate to your tv to the food. This week, I haven't had too much homework and my roommate and I have a couple classes together, so I haven't stared this yet, but older friends said that this is super important. Distractions are everywhere, but studying and doing homework in a library will be less distracting.

3. School is a job. Do it from 8-5.

For those that do not have a job in college, school is your job. It should be your priority, but you do need some fun time too. Have the 8-5 schedule in your mind. Do school and your work/studying from 8-5 (be diligent in your work) and then have the nights all to yourself so you can do whatever you want. If you have a test the next day or in a couple days from then, maybe do 8-6/7. If you work hard in that time limit, you are less likely to slack off and you will be so much more efficient. And then you even get free time, which is important, because your brain needs breaks.

4. Give time to yourself

School will drive you crazy. Trust me. (it has only been a week, yes, but still). My university has really stressed this philosophy, which I love: Don't only learn in the classroom. Yes, you are going to school and school should be a priority, but our experiences also teach us, so it is important to go make new friends and give time to yourself. At new student orientation for me, they told us don't make your life ALL about school. It is an exciting time in our lives and it is important to do other things besides school.

Well, I hope these little tips help in your daily life, because they definitely have for me. College is such a great experience so far and I can't wait for the next 8 months!

So today I am wearing a top from Called to Surf. Called to Surf tee It is so soft and it has stripes so I obviously love it. I paired it with my hot air balloon necklace and my wink bracelet from Kate Spade. I love wearing red lipstick with certain outfits because it really just ties the outfit together. I highly recommend doing it when the outfit calls for it.

Enjoy!

xoxo, Em
